Biography
Claudia Wieser was born in 1973 in Freilassing near Salzburg. First she takes up an apprenticeship as a goldsmith in 1993, which she completes in 1997. She then studied at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts until 2004, where she was a student of Markus Oehlen and Axel Kasseböhmer. Wieser received various scholarships and was artist in residence at CCA Andratx in Palma de Mallorca in 2012.
In her wall works, drawings, installations and sculptures, the artist demonstrates her talent for geometric and harmonious compositions that reveal to the viewer a certain coherence, beauty and pleasure in aesthetics. A special feature is that the trained blacksmith often incorporates gold leaf into her works. Thematically, she is concerned with the reinterpretation of the exhibition space and also deals with set pieces from art history in her works.
Wieser's work has been included in numerous international contemporary art exhibitions and collections. The artist currently lives and works in Berlin, where she moves into a studio in Tiergarten.
