The central theme of Bernd Zimmer's art is untouched nature, with which he deals in an autonomous painting process through motifs such as landscapes, weather phenomena and vegetation.
Biography
Bernd Zimmer was born in Planegg near Munich in 1948. Before turning to art, Zimmer trained as a bookseller. It was not until the 1970s that he decided to pursue his passion for painting professionally and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe from 1970 to 1973.
Zimmer's art is known for its bold colors and dynamic brushstrokes. His works are often inspired by nature and landscapes, interpreting these subjects with a raw, almost abstract energy. The intensity and directness of his painting are characteristic of the "New Wilds" style. Over the years, however, his style has evolved, and while his early works are strongly influenced by expressive painting, later works show a tendency toward greater abstraction and an intense play with color and form.
Zimmer's works have been presented in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout Europe. Today, he lives and works in Upper Bavaria, Brandenburg, and Italy.
